DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification from a recognized makeup school or cosmetology program preferred.
  • Proven experience as a makeup artist, preferably in a retail environment or beauty industry.
  • Experience working with a variety of skin tones, facial features, and makeup styles (e.g., bridal, special effects, or everyday looks).
  • Expertise in makeup application, including knowledge of different techniques, tools, and products.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers, offer advice, and build relationships.
  • Flexibility to work retail hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment while delivering exceptional customer service.

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Provide personalized makeup services and expert beauty advice to customers in-store.    Makeup artist will be responsible for offering high-quality makeup applications, promoting beauty products, and ensuring an outstanding customer experience.  you will also educate customers on how to use products and help them select the best items for their needs.

 

DUTIES AND RESONPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Accountabilities:

 

In-Store Makeup Services:

  • Provide expert makeup consultations and application services to customers, creating looks based on individual preferences, occasions, and skin types.
  • Offer full makeup applications, touch-ups, and demonstrations for customers on products sold in-store.

 

Product Knowledge & Recommendations:

  • Stay informed about the latest makeup trends, beauty products, and techniques to provide customers with up-to-date recommendations.
  • Help customers choose the right makeup products for their skin tone, texture, and preferences.
  • Educate customers on how to apply makeup, highlighting key features of the products and their benefits.

 

Customer Engagement & Service:

  • Provide excellent customer service by actively listening to customer needs, answering questions, and giving makeup advice.
  • Create a welcoming, friendly, and professional atmosphere, building lasting customer relationships.

 

 

 

Sales Support & Promotions:

  • Promote store products, such as makeup, skincare, and beauty tools, driving sales and meeting sales targets.
  • Assist in product launches, in-store promotions, and beauty events to increase customer engagement and sales.
  • Participate in retail store events such as makeup demos or beauty workshops, demonstrating product usage and benefits.

 

Maintain Makeup Station & Tools:

  • Ensure that the makeup station is clean, organized, and fully stocked with products and tools.
  • Follow hygiene and safety standards by sanitizing brushes, tools, and products between use and maintaining a sterile environment for clients.

 

 

Visual Merchandising:

  • Assist in setting up and maintaining visual displays of makeup products in-store, ensuring they are attractive and aligned with brand standards.

 

 

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with store managers, beauty advisors, and sales teams to achieve retail goals and enhance customer experiences.
  • Share tips, techniques, and product knowledge with the rest of the team to improve overall store performance.

 

 

 

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS / SUCCESS MEASURES

  • Sales Target Achievement: Achieve 100% of monthly/quarterly/annual sales target or exceed it by a set percentage (e.g., 10% above target).

 

  • Team Sales Performance : Increase team sales over a specific period (monthly/quarterly)

 

  • Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) : Maintain a customer satisfaction score of 95% or higher based on surveys or customer feedback.
  • Conversion Rate : Achieve a higher conversion rate which refers to the percentage of store visitors who make a purchase.

 

  • Training & Development : Ensure 100% of sales associates complete mandatory product or sales training within a set time frame.

 

  • Inventory Management & Stock Accuracy: Maintain 98% inventory accuracy and ensure products are stocked appropriately to meet customer demand.

 

  • Complaint Resolution Time : Resolving customer complaints on priority.

 

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

Work standard hours follow retail/showroom operational hours with one day off in a week.  You may work in shifts including weekends and evenings.   You may have to allot work hours to collect sales data and complete sales reports.

You would spend a lot of time on your feet and from time to time may need to lift or carry items of stock.   Wearing a uniform is necessary.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

Performance appraisals meetings will be held by the Showroom Manager and sales supervisor every six (6) months.  Achievement of annual professional and personal development goals, determined KPIs in above JD and other job requisites during appraisal period and current organizational strategic goals.
