About the Position
We are looking for Division Manager (GMD) to oversee the distribution operations, to lead and drive our strategic initiatives, optimize operations, and enhance profitability. Drive initiatives to enhance market share, streamline operations, and improve customer satisfaction meeting both quality and service standards while maximizing profitability.
DUTIES AND RESONPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement distribution strategies aligned with the overall business objectives.
- Identify and assess new distribution channels and partnerships to enhance market presence.
- Identify market trends and opportunities for growth and expansion.
- Collaborate with senior management to align business objectives with company goals.
Operational Excellence:
- Monitor technological advancements in the General Merchandising Division and assess their applicability to improve operations.
- Ensure that all staff are trained on SOPs to maintain consistency and quality in operations.
- Implement feedback mechanisms to gather insights from customers and address any operational shortcomings.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with operational standards and regulations.
 Logistics Management:
- Oversee the entire supply chain process, ensuring seamless coordination between suppliers, warehouses, and distribution centers.
- Oversee warehouse management, ensuring efficient layout and organization for optimal product storage and retrieval.
- Establish quality control measures to ensure products are handled and transported in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Financial Management:
- Prepare and manage the division’s budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Analyze operational costs and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
- Analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and cost reduction.
- Drive profitability through effective pricing strategies and cost management.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing distribution team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of distribution operations.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the sales organization.
Pricing Strategy:
- Collaborate with the finance team to develop competitive pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining attractive to customers.
- Monitor market pricing trends and adjust pricing strategies accordingly.
Sales and Marketing:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop effective promotional strategies.
- Set clear sales objectives and KPIs for the distribution division, aligning them with overall business goals.
- Monitor sales performance and implement initiatives to drive revenue growth.
- Build and maintain relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
- Leverage digital marketing strategies (social media, SEO, email marketing) to enhance brand visibility and drive online sales.
Market Analysis:
- Analyze emerging trends in the General Merchandising sector, including consumer preferences, buying behaviors, and market demands and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Assess the potential of new geographic markets for distribution expansion, considering factors like population density, economic conditions, and logistical feasibility.
- Identify potential risks in the distribution landscape, such as supply chain disruptions, economic downturns & develop contingency plans to mitigate identified risks.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- MBA or other relevant advanced degrees preferred.
- Minimum of 10 – 15 years of experience in the General Merchandising sector, with a focus on distribution or logistics.
- At least 8 years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing distribution operations.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, consumer behavior, and distribution channels.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards in logistics.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing effective distribution strategies.
- Ability to anticipate market trends and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, and cost management within distribution.
